Derek Nisco

Derek Nisco is an experienced IT Program Manager currently working at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security since January 2014, where responsibilities include serving as the information architect for the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) and liaising with the NIEM Business Architecture Committee. Prior to this role, Derek held positions at Cydecor, Inc. as a Senior Analyst, coordinating service policy across the Department of Defense, and at BRMi as a Senior Director focused on technology business management and program analysis. Derek also founded Innovation Consulting, LLC, specializing in IT program management consulting, and worked as a Senior Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton, co-leading a major DoD initiative and managing acquisition strategy. Early career experiences include serving as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy, overseeing significant operational and maintenance responsibilities on a naval destroyer. Derek holds a BS in Marine Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and an MS in Management of Information Technology from the University of Virginia.
