Amber currently works at The Diversity Movement as a Content Strategist. Prior to this, they held the role of Content Writer and Editor at the same company. In this position, they conducted interviews and authored guest blog posts, focusing on thought-leaders in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion space. Amber also worked as a freelance writer and editor, where they interviewed interesting people for a community program and designed and copyedited a magazine.
Amber has a strong background in editorial roles. Amber served as a Senior Editor at Cary Magazine, where they directed all editorial content and contributed to a significant increase in annual revenue over five years. Amber also had a previous role as an Editor at the same publication. During their time at Cary Magazine, Amber implemented a long-term planning approach that allowed for efficient development and helped navigate pandemic-related restrictions.
Prior to working at Cary Magazine, Amber held various positions at S&A Cherokee, including Graphic Designer, Copy Editor, and Writer. Additionally, they worked at The Cary News/Southwest Wake News as an Editor, overseeing two newspapers. Amber also served as a Senior Designer and Copy Editor at the same publication.
Earlier in their career, Amber worked for The News & Observer Publishing Company as a Designer and Copy Editor. Amber also gained valuable experience at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as a Deputy Design Desk Manager News, Designer, and Copy Editor.

Amber Keister, CDE®, holds a Bachelor of Journalism (BJ) degree with a focus on Journalism and Spanish from the University of Missouri-Columbia. In addition to their academic qualifications, Amber has obtained several certifications in various fields. Amber has the Certified Diversity Executive (CDE) credential from the Institute for Diversity Certification, which they achieved in January 2023. Amber also holds the Diversity Beyond the Checkbox certification from The Diversity Movement, obtained in March 2022. Furthermore, they have completed the Social Media Marketing Foundations certification offered by LinkedIn in August 2021.
