Child & Family Health Director at East Coast Migrant Head Start Project

Mercedes, MPH, CHES, is the Director of Child & Family Health reporting directly to the Chief Innovation Officer. She is leading strategy to ensure the children’s health in 48 educational centers across 10 states. She was the Child & Family Health Services Manager at ECMHSP from September 2016 to February 2019. She has extensive experience in public health program management, community and migrant health centers, farmworker health and environmental justice, working with grassroots organizations as well as state and federal government programs. Most recently, she advised the NC Department of Environmental Quality and the NC Department of Health and Human Services on risk communication and expanding access to services for historically marginalized populations. She serves on the North Carolina Pesticide Board and the North Carolina Advisory Committee on Cancer Coordination and Control. She is also the board treasurer for the North Carolina Congress of Latino Organizations.
