David Tipping

Estimating Director at THE ENVIRONMENTAL & PROCESS ENGINEERING GROUP LIMITED

David Tipping is currently the Estimating Director at THE ENVIRONMENTAL & PROCESS ENGINEERING GROUP LIMITED. Prior to this, they worked as a CIPA Fellow at Cornell University from September 2015 to May 2016, where they designed a new multi stakeholder partnership model for international humanitarian disaster recovery and developed a pilot program for trialing a suite of integrated projects focused on recovery of Nepal communities following the 2015 earthquakes.

From October 2010 to August 2018, David Tipping worked as a Client-Side Project Manager / Senior Executive Officer / Strategic Policy Manager for Infrastructure in the Australian Government. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of infrastructure projects, as well as providing advice on infrastructure policy issues.

David Tipping has extensive experience in international development cooperation and disaster management, which has led to him being appointed to a leadership and mentoring role for 30+ international fellows, graduate students and special advisers. David has also provided key input into experiential learning course development and delivered professional skills development workshops, design studio sessions, and co-presentation of a lecture ‘Learning from Natural and Manmade Disasters: and Risk Management’.

David Tipping has a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Cornell University in the field of government, politics, and policy (2016). David also has an MBA in strategic management from Deakin University (2010) and a Master of Science in civil engineering with a focus on environmental engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (2001). David's undergraduate degree is in environmental engineering from the University of Wollongong (1998). In addition, David Tipping has certification from the DiploFoundation in bilateral diplomacy and multi-stakeholder diplomacy. David is also certified by the Nous Group in advising government and ministers and by the Royal Life Saving Society – Australia in Bronze Medallion. Finally, they have certification from the Australian Institute of Project Management AIPM as a Certified Practicing Project Director (CPPD) and from United Nations OCHA in civil-military coordination: working in complex emergencies.
