Jon Bower has held several leadership positions in the education industry over the past decade. In 2010, they were the CEO of YBA Communications, where they worked with founder Jimmy Young to develop a business plan, raise money, create partnerships, and get YBA online. In the same year, they became the Principal of JA Bower Consulting, where they provided consulting services to school districts, education publishers, technology companies, and schools of education on teaching methods and technology. In 2012, they became the Director of Scayl, Inc., where they worked with three CEOs on the company's business plan, development process, and fundraising. In 2013, they were the CEO of Avant Assessment, LLC, where they raised money for the company and recruited a permanent CEO. In 2014, they were the Founder of Formativity, Inc., where they helped teachers adopt effective teaching methods. In 2015, they became the President of Flink Learning, where they developed software to leverage student control, peer learning, and research-based methods of teaching literacy. In 2016, they were the Executive Director of Bethune Learning Centers, where they placed “pop-up” literacy programs in locations of high need, and the Director of Training Curriculum at EdVigor, where they worked with a team of American teachers to develop supplemental curriculum materials and training processes. Finally, in 2019, they became the CEO of The Family Learning Company.
Jon Bower attended Harvard Business School from 1984 to 1986, where they earned an MBA with Honors in Operations and Entrepreneurship. Prior to that, they completed a BA with Honors at Stanford University between 1976 and 1981, in the field of Development Process (Education & Community Dev't).
