Michelle Neal

Head of the Markets Group at The Federal Reserve Bank of New York

Michelle Neal is executive vice president, head of the Markets Group, and member of the Executive Committee at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The Markets Group’s key activities include implementing market operations consistent with FOMC authorization and directives, monitoring and analyzing global financial market developments, and executing lender of last resort operations and collateral valuation services. They also include providing financial services for foreign and international monetary authorities and providing capital market-related services to the U.S. Treasury as its fiscal agent.

Ms. Neal has nearly 20 years of leadership experience in financial services organizations, during which time she was responsible for strategic, operational, and technical aspects of large business lines.

Most recently before the New York Fed, she was chief executive officer (CEO) of U.S. operations at LedgerEdge, a distributed ledger technology-powered trading platform initially focused on corporate bonds.

Prior to LedgerEdge, Ms. Neal worked for RBC Capital Markets, serving as Head of U.S. Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities. She was also responsible for Global Senior Relationship Management, executing a transformation of the unit’s talent and focus account strategy.

Before RBC Capital Markets, Ms. Neal worked for BNY Mellon, starting as the president of markets and later becoming CEO of markets. She also held leadership positions at Deutsche Bank, Nomura, and Royal Bank of Scotland.

Ms. Neal is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the New York Hall of Science.

Ms. Neal holds a BSBA degree in Finance from the Sawyer School of Management at Suffolk University (cum laude).
