Clare Newell

Clare Newell is a Principal Laboratory Research Scientist at The Francis Crick Institute since September 2016, with previous roles as a Senior Laboratory Research Assistant and Postdoctoral Research Assistant focusing on mass spectrometry techniques and biological applications using Drosophila melanogaster. Clare has co-authored a publication in Nature (2023) and contributed to studies featured in Nature Communications (2017) and Angewandte Chemie International Edition (2020). Concurrently, Clare serves as a Visiting Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory within Ian Gilmore's laboratory. Educational background includes a PhD in Biochemistry and Genetics from University College London and a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Surrey. Earlier work experience spans a research assistant position at University College London, food and beverage management at LEGOLAND Windsor, and brief placements in NHS England and Abbott.
