Job description

The Free Press is quickly growing and we are looking for an organized, systematic and hands-on individual to support our operations in New York City. The Business Operations Manager will work across a range of teams reporting into the COO, but interfacing with everyone at The FP. 

Responsibilities

  • Project management: Help start up and operationalize new businesses lines that The FP is starting up - executing across different formats including our website, events, podcasts, and entirely new business areas
  • Insurance Management: Assist in managing company insurance policies and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Office Management: Support daily office operations, including managing office supplies, equipment, and facility maintenance.
  • Team Culture: Plan and coordinate team-building activities, offsite meetings, dinners, and other events to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Travel Management: Organize and oversee travel arrangements for team members, including booking flights, accommodations, and handling travel-related expenses.
  • Process Management: Assist in developing and maintaining efficient processes and procedures to streamline operations.
  • IT Systems Support: Help manage and maintain office IT systems, ensuring smooth operation and troubleshooting any technical issues that arise.

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • You’re a do-er and a pragmatist. You can help get ideas off the ground without knowing all the answers. Enthusiastic and adaptable, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated and independent.
  • Sense of humor is a plus! An embrace of a scrappy start-up environment with a willingness to jump in wherever needed to help the team succeed.
