Program Manager Ethiopia at The Freedom Fund

Louise Hemfrey has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Their most recent position is as a Program Manager at The Freedom Fund, where they oversee a portfolio of partnerships in Ethiopia, focusing on program delivery, impact measurement, and research. Prior to this role, Louise worked at Womankind Worldwide as a Project Lead - Policy and Programmes Officer, managing a DFID-funded grant program and contributing to research and report writing. Louise also has experience as a Freelance Columnist for Global Politics Magazine and as a Consultancies Assistant at INTRAC, where they managed research and evaluation projects. Additionally, Louise worked as an Independent Researcher at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, building communications relationships and conducting field research. Louise also served as a Gender & Women's Rights Research Consultant at Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, designing qualitative analysis frameworks and conducting interviews. Other experiences include an internship at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, where they provided administrative support and engaged in policy research, and a role as Head of Communications at GIA - Geneva Interns Association. Furthermore, Louise has volunteered with International Service UK as a Communications Developer, and they have held the position of Treasurer at STAND St Andrews.

Louise Hemfrey completed their education in a chronological manner. Louise first attended St Mungo's RC High School from 2002 to 2008, where they studied AH Mathematics, Physics, English, and H Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English & History and obtained the SQA Highers and Advanced Highers.

After completing high school, they went on to pursue higher education at the University of St Andrews from 2008 to 2012. During this time, they earned a Master of Art Honours degree in International Relations.

In 2012, Louise Hemfrey obtained a TEFL Qualification from TEFL Scotland, where they studied Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language/ESL Language Instructor.

Their education journey continued as they attended the Geneva Graduate Institute from 2013 to 2015. Here, they obtained an Interdisciplinary Master of International Affairs degree with a specialization in Conflict and Peacebuilding.

Additionally, Louise Hemfrey has obtained two additional certifications. In March 2013, they completed the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course from TEFL Scotland Ltd. Furthermore, in November 2019, they completed the Programme Management for Development Professionals (PMD Pro) Level 1 from APMG International.
