Kent Buse

Director, Global Healthier Societies Program at The George Institute for Global Health

Professor Kent Buse is the Director of the global Healthier Societies Program at The George Institute for Global Health with an appointment in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of New South Wales, Sydney.

Professor Buse is a political-economist with research interests in health policy analysis and the evidence to policy pathway. He has published on global health governance and architecture, health policy, planning and financing, population level approaches to the control of NCDs, HIV and sexual and reproductive health with a lens of human rights, equity, inclusion and accountability. He is author of the leading graduate text book ‘Making Health Policy’. He served as chief of policy, strategy and research for UNAIDS for over ten years. He is co-founder and co-director of Global Health 50/50, the world’s leading authority on gender in global health and serves on the Policy Committee of the World Obesity Federation.
