Mary Powell Nelson

Mary Powell Nelson has extensive experience working in the blind and visually impaired community. Mary Powell began their career in 2010 at The Hadley School for the Blind, where they served as a Development Associate until 2013. In 2013, Nelson joined the Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired, taking on the role of Director of Finance until 2017. Mary Powell then advanced to the position of Chief Operating Officer, a role they currently hold.

Mary Powell Nelson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from DePauw University in the years 1977 to 1981. Mary Powell later pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Loyola University Chicago, completing their studies from 1985 to 1987. Additionally, in 1979 and 1980, they studied French Language and Literature at the IAU Institute for American Universities.
