Chamut Abebe Kifetew has diverse work experience in the health sector. In 2010, they worked as a Research Assistant at Kimetrica International Limited. In 2012, they interned at UNICEF Kenya in the Health Sector. From 2014 to 2015, Chamut served as a Health Promotion Worker at Womens Health in The North, where they focused on providing sexual and reproductive health education to young African women. Chamut Abebe joined Terrence Higgins Trust in 2016, initially as an African Health Promotion Specialist, designing and delivering health promotion interventions for African communities in Birmingham. In this role, they also provided one-to-one and group-based advice on sexual health. From 2016 to 2017, Chamut worked as part of the Sector Leadership and Development Office at Terrence Higgins Trust, where they led the development of a national strategy to engage primary care clinicians in the national HIV prevention program. From 2018 to 2023, they served as the Project Manager for the National HIV Prevention Program, overseeing system leadership and sector development mechanisms across England. Currently, Chamut works as a Program Manager at The Health Foundation, starting in 2022.

Chamut Abebe Kifetew has a Master's Degree in Health Economics and Health Policy from the University of Birmingham. This degree was obtained from 2015 to 2016. Prior to that, Chamut obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Public Health from La Trobe University, which was completed from 2010 to 2013. Additionally, Chamut has a certification in PRINCE2® 2017 Foundation & Practitioner, obtained in December 2019 from AXELOS Global Best Practice.
