Mike Lam

Mike Lam has had a diverse range of work experience in the finance and venture capital industries. Mike started their career as an Investment Manager at L. Hoffmann Investments Ltd, focusing on E&M investments in the Greater China Region. Mike then worked at KPMG Hong Kong as a Senior Consultant in Management Consulting, where they provided strategic advice to multinational corporations looking to expand in the Asia Pacific region.

After that, Lam joined Intel Capital as a Senior Finance & Portfolio Manager, overseeing finance operations, due diligence, and valuation of investment activities in the Greater Asia Region. Mike completed over 100 private equity, venture capital, IPO, and M&A transactions during their time there.

Lam also served as a Consultant and Council Member at Gerson Lehrman Group, where they provided business and financial advice to clients, mainly financial institutions and MNCs. Mike then became the Director of Rangers Advisory Limited, providing professional consultancy services to Hong Kong tech start-ups.

In 2016, Lam became the Chief Financial Officer of Insight Robotics Ltd., a company focusing on wildfire detection and aerial survey services. Mike completed several financing rounds, raising over US$10M, and managed fund raising, investor relations, finance operations, and corporate strategy.

Lam later joined HKSTP, initially as the Senior Manager of the Acceleration Programme and then as the Assistant Director of Acceleration & Elite Programmes. Mike built a portfolio of over 70 high-potential tech ventures and assisted portfolio companies in raising over US$200M.

Currently, Lam is the Head of Start-up Incubation and Investment at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Mike manages the HKUST Entrepreneurship Fund and is responsible for supporting HKUST start-up companies by identifying potential investees and conducting due diligence.

Mike Lam holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from AGSM @ UNSW Business School. Mike also has a certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from CPA Australia. No specific information about the years of completion or the field of study for the MBA degree is provided.
