Kathleen Summers has extensive experience in animal welfare and advocacy, with a focus on combating puppy mills. Kathleen worked at The Humane Society of the United States in various roles, including Director of Outreach and Research for the Puppy Mills Campaign. Kathleen spearheaded research, education, and outreach programs, resulting in stronger laws to protect animals. Kathleen was a national expert on puppy mills, appearing in various media outlets. Prior to this, Kathleen worked in veterinary support and as a writer and editor for nonprofit organizations.
Kathleen Summers completed their Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honors from Carnegie Mellon University in 1989, majoring in Fine Art with a minor in Creative Writing. Kathleen then pursued a Graduate Certificate in Editing and Publications from Georgetown University in 1995. In the same year, they also obtained a Master's Degree in Creative Writing from American University.
