Pim van Nierop

Pim van Nierop is a software engineer and tech lead at The Hyve since November 2018, specializing in cBioPortal, and has been involved in ontology development and Gene Ontology curation at the Center for Neurogenomics and Cognitive Research at VU Amsterdam since 2008. As a member of the SynGO consortium, Pim contributed to creating controlled vocabulary for synaptic proteins, while also coordinating experiments related to neurodegenerative diseases in collaboration with pharmaceutical companies. Additionally, Pim is a course coordinator for Genomic Data Analysis, focusing on genomics and proteomics data analysis. Previous roles include Android developer at JAPPS, designing a mobile health app, and external teacher in Object Oriented Programming at Hogeschool Leiden. Educational qualifications include a Research Doctorate in Molecular Neurosciences from VU Amsterdam and a Master's degree in Medical and Molecular Biology from Utrecht University.
