Clara T. Cole is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in electoral support and governance across Africa. Currently serving as the Regional Director for Africa at The International Foundation for Electoral Systems since December 2021, Clara has held significant roles including Head of Regulatory Support at The Electoral Commission and Political Adviser for Electoral Support at The Commonwealth. Previous positions also include Senior Program Officer for Africa at Freedom House and various impactful roles at the National Democratic Institute focusing on Nigeria and Sierra Leone. Clara's early career includes research and project management roles, complemented by a Master's degree in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Loyola University Maryland.
