Tara Defrancisco

Tara DeFrancisco is a prominent figure in the world of improvisational theatre, serving as Co-Founder, Artistic Director, and Instructor at The Nest Theatre since September 2016, where oversight of over 25 Mainstage shows and leadership in the Equity Panel implementing Brave Space Policy are notable achievements. As a Mainstage Performer with HERE: The (Improvised) Musical since July 2014, Tara has received significant acclaim from various critics, including recognition as Critic’s Choice by The Chicago Tribune. Additionally, Tara holds longstanding positions as a performer and instructor at The iO Theater and has been President of The Improv Retreat, the world's largest improvisation retreat. With a career in entertainment commencing in 2002, Tara has developed a diverse portfolio, including roles at ComedySportz Chicago and The Second City, while also operating as an owner of an entertainment professional business focused on speaking, lecturing, and improv workshops. Tara holds a BA in Theatre Performance and Interpersonal Communications from Ohio University.
