Erin Jacklin

Senior Software Engineer Technical Lead at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory

Erin Jacklin has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Erin started in 2009 as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University at Buffalo Department of Electrical Engineering. Erin then worked as a Teaching Assistant at the same university from August to December 2009. In 2010, Erin joined Advanced Acoustic Concepts as a Systems Engineering Intern for two months.

In 2012, Erin had two simultaneous roles. Erin worked as an Electronics Engineer at the U.S. Army, ARDEC from April 2012 to October 2014 while also serving as a Graduate Researcher at Columbia University in August to December 2012.

In 2014, Erin joined The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). Erin initially served as an Embedded Software Engineer, leading a team of seven people in developing a new autonomous underwater system. Erin was responsible for coordinating the architecture, development, test, and integration of code while also contributing their own code. Erin utilized Free-RTOS for the main processor. In April 2018, they were promoted to Section Supervisor and in August 2018, they became a Project Manager overseeing 2-year autonomous sensor projects. Erin was responsible for managing the budget, schedule, and staff, as well as building and testing prototype systems, planning and executing field testing, presenting design reviews and results, and collaborating with data analysts.

Finally, from March to August 2021, Erin briefly served as an Assistant Group Supervisor at APL.

Erin Jacklin has a Master's Degree in Computer Science from The Johns Hopkins University, which they obtained from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering at Columbia University from 2011 to 2012. For their undergraduate studies, Erin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from the University at Buffalo, where they attended from 2007 to 2011. In 2010, Erin also participated in a Study Abroad program at Ecole nationale supérieure de l'Electronique et de ses Applications, focusing on Electrical Engineering and French.
