Alex Lesman is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in criminal law and advocacy. Currently serving as a Staff Attorney in the Special Litigation and Law Reform Unit of the Criminal Practice at The Legal Aid Society of NYC since September 2019, Lesman focuses on litigation and advocacy related to the criminal legal system. Previous roles include Policy Analyst at The Council of State Governments Justice Center, where research revolved around criminal record sealing, and Attorney at the Federal Criminal Defense Practice, handling cases in federal courts. Additional experience encompasses roles as a Staff Attorney advocating for individuals in custody, as well as contributions to major civil rights cases. Lesman has also taught as an Adjunct Associate Professor at The Graduate Center of CUNY and has held various internships related to legal research and client representation. Educational qualifications include a JD from Brooklyn Law School, an M.A. in English from the University of Virginia, and a B.A. in English from Amherst College.
