Avemaria Smart has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Avemaria started their career as a Quality Analyst and Clinical Coordinator at Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare from 2007 to 2009. Avemaria then worked as a Heart Recovery Registered Nurse in Cardiovascular Services at Del Sol Medical Center from 2010 to 2012. Following this, they joined Las Palmas Del Sol Medical Center as a Clinical Documentation Improvement Analyst from 2012 to 2016.

In 2011, Avemaria founded Ave-Smart LLC and worked as a Writer/Blogger for SuavesHats, a company they established, developing a website called www.suaveshats.

Avemaria also worked as a Business Associate at WFG - World Financial Group from 2016 to 2023. Avemaria concurrently served as a Financial Educator/Recruiter at World System Builder starting in 2023.

Avemaria has also held various leadership positions at nonprofit organizations, including serving as the President of the El Paso Chapter of The Links, Incorporated from 2022 onwards and as the 2nd Vice President of Programming for the same chapter from 2015 to 2019. Avemaria also worked as a Certified Program Reviewer, assisting in achieving the National Program mission and vision.

Lastly, they served as the Chief Operating Officer at the Jamaican American Community Organization (JACO) since 2019 and as a Board Member at Prince of Peace Fellowship Incorporated since 2015.

Avemaria Smart began their education in 1972 at the University of San Francisco, where they completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 1977. Following this, they pursued further studies at El Paso Community College, starting in 1987 and continuing until 2002. During this time, they began taking classes in Design and Applied Arts, with a focus on Business. In the end, they completed a degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Avemaria then went on to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Phoenix between 2000 and 2002. Continuing their education, they obtained a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree from the University of Phoenix between 2012 and 2021. Avemaria'sdoctoral studies focused on Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services.

In terms of additional certifications, Avemaria obtained the certification "Creative Spark: Grammar Girl, Changing Writing One Word at a Time" from LinkedIn in October 2016.

The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. The membership consists of more than 17,000 professional women of color in 299 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom.
