Valerie Evans has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Starting as an English Language Arts Middle School Teacher at Roxbury Preparatory Charter School, they consistently achieved significant academic progress for their students. Valerie then worked as an Academic Support Coordinator and Student Life Coordinator at SEED Public Charter School of Washington DCS. Valerie later joined the Gates Millennium Scholars Program as a Mentoring Specialist and Relationship Manager. At Education Pioneers, they served as the DC Metro Area Program Director and later as the National Director of Curriculum & Training. During their time there, they led the development and revision of national curricula for fellowship programs and ensured a high-quality learning experience for Fellows. Valerie's next role was at Achievement Prep, where they worked as the Chief Talent Officer, responsible for talent acquisition and management. Currently, they are working at The Management Center, initially as Partner, Talent, and currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer. In this role, they have been involved in revamping organizational core values and leading the organization's response to the pandemic.

Valerie Evans attended Spelman College from 1994 to 1998, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English Language and Literature. Following that, they pursued further education at the University of California, Berkeley from 1998 to 2000, earning a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Education.
