Michael Reilly

Michael Reilly is a seasoned editorial professional with extensive experience in leading digital journalism. Currently serving as the Managing Editor at The Markup since April 2023, Reilly previously held the position of Editorial Director at Protocol for a brief period in 2022. From January 2016 to July 2022, Reilly excelled as the Executive Editor at MIT Technology Review, also serving as Deputy Editor and Senior Editor for News and Commentary during that tenure. Prior roles include Editor in Chief at Timeline, Senior Technology Editor at New Scientist, and Earth Science Producer at Discovery News. Reilly's career commenced as a correspondent at New Scientist and included internships at Wired Magazine and The Star-Ledger. Reilly holds a Sulzberger Executive Leadership Program certificate in Journalism from Columbia University and a Master’s degree in Geology from Rutgers University, complemented by an undergraduate degree from Middlebury College.
