Manuel Torres

Manuel Torres is an accomplished journalist with extensive experience in various editorial roles. Currently serving as a Senior Editor at The Marshall Project since July 2019, Torres has prior experience as a Senior News Editor, Regional Editor, and Criminal Justice Editor at NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune from September 2012 to July 2019, overseeing multiple teams and producing award-winning investigations. Torres began a career in journalism at The Times-Picayune, progressing through positions such as Editorial Writer, Assistant City Editor, and Staff Writer from June 2000 to September 2012. Early in the career, Torres reported for El Nuevo Diario de Nicaragua and La Prensa Nicaragua while also serving as an Associate Professor at Universidad Centroamericana in Managua. Torres holds a Master's of Arts in Journalism from The University of Alabama and a Bachelor's of Arts in Mass Communication/Media Studies from Louisiana State University.
