Maurice Chammah is a professional writer and journalist with extensive experience in the media sector. Since September 2014, Maurice has served as a Staff Writer for The Marshall Project. Prior to this role, Maurice worked as a freelance journalist and musician from January 2006 to May 2015. Maurice gained valuable experience as a Reporting Intern at the Texas Tribune from August 2012 to May 2013, and briefly held the position of Press Officer at The Carter Center in June 2012. Additionally, Maurice worked as a researcher for the Fulbright Commission in Egypt and as a reporter for The Daily News Egypt/International Herald Tribune during 2011-2012. Maurice contributed to the Texas After Violence Project as a Research Coordinator from August 2010 to August 2011. With a Bachelor of Arts in Near Eastern Studies from Cornell University, attained in 2010, Maurice has cultivated a diverse skill set in journalism and research.
