Charles McPherson

Charles McPherson, Sr. (“Mac”) is from the “Sand Mountain” area of northeast Alabama where he attended Albertville High School. Mac graduated from The University of Alabama with a B.S. degree in business, and he continued his education at The University of Alabama by receiving a second degree in chemistry.

Mac began his petroleum industry career with Shell Oil Company’s Marine Division in Houston, Texas as a lubrication engineer. Mac worked with Shell Oil until 1970. On April 1, 1971, “Mac” formed McPherson Oil Products in Oneonta, Alabama. After 35 years of buying, building, and expanding what is now The McPherson Companies, Inc., Mac is serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

Mac has grown the original McPherson Oil Products to be one of the southeast’s most successful petroleum companies with over 37 acquisitions and mergers. With his vast knowledge and experience in the petroleum industry, Mac continues to be a strong asset to both TMC’s customers as well as the new generation of company management.

Additionally, Mac continues to emphasize the family-oriented atmosphere at TMC. Mac has always stressed the importance of TMC’s environmental responsibilities, and he has been an industry leader in recycled products.

Mac is a community-focused leader and loves being involved in politics; he is often quoted saying “Don’t gripe if you don’t care enough to be involved and vote”. Mac is a supporter of the United Way, Boy Scouts of America, and The Children’s Hospital of Alabama. He is a board member of The Jefferson County Economic and Industrial Development Authority and The Prescott House. Additionally, Mac serves on the Jefferson County Judicial Commission. In his spare time, Mac enjoys fly fishing anytime, anywhere, his old Lambda Chi fraternity brothers and his 1959 Albertville classmates.
