Shawn David Young

Shawn David Young is an experienced music industry professional currently serving as an Education Ambassador for The Mechanical Licensing Collective since October 2021 and as a Board Member of the Music & Entertainment Industry Educators Association since January 2019. In the academic realm, Young has held the position of Director of Music Industry Studies and Associate Professor of Music at York College of Pennsylvania since August 2014, teaching various courses related to music, technology, and American culture. Previously, Young held various academic roles, including Assistant Professor at Clayton State University and Instructor of Music Industry at Greenville College. As an author, Young published the book "Gray Sabbath: Jesus People USA, the Evangelical Left, and the Evolution of Christian Rock" through Columbia University Press, which explores the impact of the Jesus People USA community on American Christian music and evangelicalism. Young holds a Ph.D. in American Studies from Michigan State University and has a diverse background in music education and industry experience, dating back to roles at MARS Music Inc. and Pearson Music.
