Group Tax Manager at Medical Protection Society

Ian Lakin has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. Ian started their career at the Post Office in 1993, where they held various finance business partner positions, including responsibilities for producing monthly reporting packs, budgeting, and investment appraisal. Ian later served as a budget and strategy planning manager, working on the annual planning and budgeting process. Ian also worked as a risk manager and investment appraisal manager during this time. In 2006, they became the telephony product and billing manager, overseeing billing activities and debt management. From 2008 to 2010, Ian worked as a business analyst, focusing on data analysis and problem-solving. Ian then briefly assumed the role of finance manager before becoming the tax compliance manager at the Post Office. In this role, Ian was responsible for completing tax returns, conducting VAT analysis, and providing tax advisory services. In 2017, Ian moved to Provident Financial Group, where they served as a tax and management accounts manager and later as a tax manager. Their responsibilities included statutory tax reporting, tax accounting methodology, tax compliance management, and managing tax compliance teams. Ian then joined Card Factory as a group tax manager in 2021, taking on overall responsibility for taxes across the group and supporting the finance team. In 2023, they joined the Medical Protection Society as a group tax manager.

Ian Lakin attended Ecclesfield Comprehensive from 1984 to 1989, where they obtained their GCSE's. Later, from 2007 to 2009, they enrolled in Kaplan Financial - Leeds, studying Accounting and Finance.
