Sonny Smith

Sonny Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over several sectors. Sonny currently serves as the Director of Safety and Security at The Menil Collection, where they oversee personnel and programs to ensure the safety and security of staff, visitors, property, and art. Sonny is responsible for developing a service-oriented team that provides positive and supportive interactions with visitors.

Prior to their current position, Sonny worked as a Lecturer at Texas A&M University's Bush School of Government and Public Service, where they developed graduate courses in Homeland Security and taught various subjects related to security and emergency management.

Sonny also held positions at Texas A&M Health Science Center, serving as the Director of Security and Parking Services, as well as the Security Manager. Additionally, Sonny worked as an Adjunct Professor and Course Lead at Kaplan University Graduate School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, where they developed and taught courses in Public Administration and Homeland Security.
