Mona Gahunia

Dr. Gahunia is a double-board-certified physician who oversees several regional teams at the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group. Under her leadership, her teams focus on developing new services within the medical group and optimizing the use of HealthConnect, our electronic medical record. She has spearheaded the creation of several new service lines, including comprehensive dementia care services, an interdisciplinary chronic pain management program, and a lifestyle-change program to prevent diabetes. Additionally, she has a special focus on primary care operations and works across the organization to share optimal primary care practices and pilot innovative solutions that enhance both the patient and provider experience.

She continues to practice both internal medicine and infectious diseases medicine in outpatient and hospital-based settings. She also leads the Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity team for the medical group. The team aims to encourage and engage physicians and staff to deliver the most equitable and inclusive health care.
