Bill Smith serves as the Director of Sales and Marketing at The MIT Press since February 2015, overseeing a diverse portfolio that includes 300 books and 40 journals annually, while mentoring a team of twenty professionals. Bill has a robust background in trade publishing, sales management, and business development, having previously held key positions such as Director of Trade Publishing and Director of Business Development at The MIT Press, as well as roles at Perseus Books Group and Oxford University Press. Bill's experience includes significant achievements in digital business development, domestic and digital rights management, and operational leadership in academic publishing. Bill holds a Master’s degree in English/Education from The College of Saint Rose and has pursued additional studies in International Relations at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, and The New School.
