Asher Novek

Asher Novek has a wealth of experience in the tech and public service sectors. From 2013 to 2018, Asher worked for a variety of organizations, including HeartGov, The Governance Lab, NYC Emergency Management, Field Innovation Team, Urban Democracy Lab at NYU, Democracy 2.1, Councilmember Brad Lander, Speak Up, Rise Up, and The Movement Cooperative.

At HeartGov, Asher was a Co-Founder, helping to develop an SMS-based platform to connect local government agents, community groups, and citizens. At The Governance Lab, Asher was a Co-Producer, producing content, shooting interviews, and overseeing Media interns. At NYC Emergency Management, Asher was a Ready NY Kids Presenter. At Field Innovation Team, Asher was a volunteer, media producer, and storyteller, designing and implementing tech innovations in the field of emergency management. At Urban Democracy Lab at NYU, Asher was the Chief Technological Imaginator, overseeing website design, photographing events, and maintaining social media. At Democracy 2.1, Asher was the US Director of Operations, running field operations and managing volunteer outreach and coordination for a digital ballot experiment. At Councilmember Brad Lander, Asher was the Lead Digital Organizer. At Speak Up, Rise Up, Asher was the Founder and Producer of a storytelling festival that aims to amplify the voices of communities and people. Finally, at The Movement Cooperative, Asher was the Associate Director of Movement Marketplace.

Asher Novek completed a BFA in Dramatic Writing and Film from New York University between 2004 and 2008. Asher then went on to obtain an MA in International Communications and Accessibility from NYU - Gallatin between 2011 and 2014.
