Ryan Coonerty

Ryan Coonerty is a Senior Policy Advisor for Matt Mahan for Mayor of San José, advising on intergovernmental relations and civic innovation initiatives. Ryan is also the host of the An Honorable Profession Podcast for The NewDEAL, interviewing state and local elected officials and thought leaders. In addition, Ryan is a Legal Studies Lecturer at UC Santa Cruz, a member of the Board of Advisors for DRIVR, a start-up tipping platform, and a Senior Policy Advisor for VeriCarbon, a carbon credit blockchain technology start-up. Ryan also teaches at California State University, Monterey Bay and previously served as a County Supervisor for Santa Cruz. Ryan has a diverse background in academia and business, co-founding a coworking company and serving as Associate Dean at Monterey College of Law.
