Director - Technology Sector Lead at The Nichols Group

Alex Thomas has extensive work experience in the technology and infrastructure sectors. Alex has been the Director - Technology Sector Lead at The Nichols Group since 2015, where they manage a wide range of industries including nuclear, defence, electronics, media, telecoms, IT services, fintech, and space. Alex is currently working on Network Rail's T190+ Programme to innovate signalling design.

Before joining The Nichols Group, Alex worked at Arup from 2005 to 2015. During their time there, they served as a Consultant / Skills Lead, undertaking various roles for major clients in aviation, telecoms, and nuclear industries. Alex was also responsible for training and knowledge sharing in areas such as Cloud computing and Data Centre Infrastructure Management. Some notable projects they worked on include automation of wholesale customer reporting for Colt Data Centre Services, asset monitoring strategy and procurement for Virgin Media, data centre strategy for the University of Leeds, baggage process modeling for Heathrow Airport Limited, among others.

Overall, Alex has a strong background in programme management, controls, and consulting, with a focus on technology and infrastructure sectors.

Alex Thomas completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from The Open University Business School from 2016 to 2019. Prior to that, Alex pursued a bachelor's degree in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, which they completed between 2006 and 2011.
