Jim Thompson is vice president, quality & technology, overseeing development of new products to meet customer requirements as well as the ongoing technical support of current production and legacy propulsion system products over their operational life cycles. His responsibilities include organization design and development, project management, development of enabling technologies, and departmental performance to customer and company business objectives.
Prior to joining The NORDAM Group, Inc. in November 2005, Thompson held a variety of technical and business management positions of increasing responsibility. From 1996 to 2005, he was employed by Garrett Aviation Services, a subsidiary of General Electric Company. At Garrett, he was the director of program development responsible for translation of strategic initiatives to business and technical programs. He was subsequently appointed vice president and general manager of the Van Nuys, California, aircraft maintenance and avionics/interior completion business. In 2001, Thompson was appointed vice president of programs and technology leading engineering and product development for all Garrett Aviation divisions. He was employed by Rohr Inc. (now Goodrich Aerostructures) from 1985 to 1996 in the capacity of program general manager/airbus programs and, ultimately, as manager of new business development.
Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science, industrial technology, manufacturing degree from California State University, Long Beach, Calif., and a master's degree in business administration from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, Calif. Thompson is also a certified Six Sigma green belt.
