The North Carolina Arboretum
Clara Curtis is an experienced horticulturist and executive leader in the field of horticulture and education, currently serving as the Senior Director for Mission Delivery at The North Carolina Arboretum since November 1988. Clara possesses a robust background that includes roles such as Director for Design, Exhibits and Education, and various positions focused on design and horticultural assets. Prior experience includes roles at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center, Tryon Palace, and Dumbarton Oaks, fostering deep expertise in horticultural design, education, and community engagement. Clara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Horticultural Science from North Carolina State University and an Associate of Arts from Brevard College.

The North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville, N.C., works to advance the state's future by creatively connecting people, plants and places through education, design and economic development. This 434-acre facility offers 65 acres of cultivated gardens, 10 miles of trails for all abilities, rotating exhibits, adult and youth education programs, a gift shop, and a cafe. The North Carolina Arboretum hosts more than 500,000 visitors annually. The North Carolina Arboretum Society is a related non-profit organization that secures cash and in-kind donations and volunteer services to support the work of the Arboretum.
