Martin Wood

Martin Wood is an experienced economy and policy adviser currently working at The North East Combined Authority since July 2024. Previously, Wood served as a senior researcher at the New Economics Foundation and held policy officer roles with the North of Tyne Combined Authority. Wood has extensive experience in research and policy development, having worked as a director at Renaissance Research UK Ltd and as a senior research and policy officer at National Energy Action. Additional roles include research associate at North East Quality Observatory System, research fellow positions at Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Western Sydney, and assistant director (research) at Northern Housing Consortium. Wood's career in the housing sector began as a training and development officer at Banks of the Wear. Academic qualifications include a Master of Philosophy from Cranfield School of Management and a BA (Hons.) in Social Policy from the University of Plymouth.
