Christopher Reichard serves as the Lead Structural / Mechanical Engineer at The Ocean Cleanup since March 2017. Previously, Christopher held the position of Structural Engineer at Allseas, where responsibilities included performing structural integrity checks and conducting hydro-structural transportation analyses. Additional experience includes engineering site inspections for decommissioning platforms in the North Sea and engaging in research on topology optimization during a master's thesis at TU Delft. Early career roles involved designing atmospheric observation instruments for NASA and overseeing a senior design project for a lightweight airplane at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Christopher holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering Dynamics and Optimization from Delft University of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering, alongside an exchange program at Kyoto University.
