M. Scott Carter has an extensive background in journalism and education. M. Scott started their career as a Reporter at The Norman Transcript in 2006 and later became Capitol Bureau Chief at The Journal Record in 2009. M. Scott then served as an Investigative Reporter at Oklahoma Watch in 2014 before transitioning to roles such as Former Professor of Journalism at Oklahoma City Community College in 2016 and Adjunct Professor of Journalism at both the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma City University. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Political Reporter at The Oklahoman, showcasing their expertise in political reporting and journalism education.
M. Scott Carter obtained an Associate of Arts in Journalism from Northern Oklahoma College in 1983. M. Scott then pursued a degree in Photojournalism from Oklahoma State University from 1983 to 1985. Later on, they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing from the University of Oklahoma-Gaylord College of Mass Communications from 2008 to 2011. Finally, they completed their education with a Masters of Professional Writing in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma in 2014.
