VP, Planning & Support Services at The Ottawa Hospital

Joanne Read is the Vice President, Planning and Support Services. Joanne is a business graduate of Algonquin College. She received her Certified Management Accounting designation in 1994, Black Belt Certification – Six Sigma in 2007, and her Executive MBA from the University of Ottawa in 2015. Joanne joined the hospital in 2009 following a 20-year career in the private sector.

Joanne has been responsible for managing a variety of operational and financial areas in the private and public sector and the clinical operations of Ambulatory Care leading up to her current position as Vice President, Planning and Support Services. Joanne is responsible for the operation of support services including Logistical Services, Housekeeping, Nutrition and Food Services, Emergency Management, Facilities Management and Planning, which to date has included the implementation of an approximate $300 M capital development plan.

Joanne actively participates in the education and support of future leaders through her involvement with the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada and multiple academic institutions. She also leads and/or participates in several regional and local initiatives related to the planning of operations, emergency management, and clinical services within the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).
