James Goode is the current Chief Financial Officer for PA Media Group. James has been in this position for 3 years and 7 months. Prior to this, they were a Member of the Board of Trustees for Index on Censorship for 1 year and 7 months. Goode has also worked for Lonrho for 5 years and 4 months, where they were the Group Chief Financial Officer & Board Member and Head of Corporate Development. Their responsibilities included overall financial responsibility for Lonrho Group Finance function, treasury, taxation, internal audit, annual financial planning and forecasting, risk management and all elements of financial process, procedure and control. Goode was also responsible for leading on M&A activity across the Lonrho Group, including due diligence, identifying buyers, presenting corporate material at Shareholder & Board level and responding to bids and tenders. Prior to working at Lonrho, Goode worked at BT for 6 years and 3 months, where they were the Finance Director for Service Delivery and Vice President of Group Corporate Finance. Their responsibilities included supporting BT’s revenue generating divisions, managing a cost base of £1.1bn and 6,300 employees across 36 global locations, as well as owning the annual financial planning and forecasting cycle for BTO Service Delivery. Goode was also an integral part of BTO Finance Leadership Team and managed Board level relationships to enable BT to deliver against its network installation and maintenance obligations. All elements of financial process, procedure, control and reporting for BTO Service Delivery were managed by Goode, who also led a team of 15 accountants and finance professionals. Furthermore, they were responsible for managing all aspects of M&A activity (acquisitions, disposals, investments and joint ventures) across BT’s divisions, including: - valuation, deal structuring, overseeing due diligence, leading negotiation and execution of all M&A deal terms and documents (sale and purchase agreements as buyer and seller, joint venture agreements and associated commercial agreements).- managing external advisors (investment banks, financial and due diligence providers and tax).- liaising with relevant internal stakeholders (Divisional CEO’s & CFO’s and Group CEO and CFO).
James Goode attended the University of Warwick from 1994-1997, where they studied politics and economics. James is also a qualified ACA from ICAEW.
