Phil Barber

Phil Barber is a seasoned sports writer with extensive experience in journalistic roles spanning several decades. Currently a Staff Writer for Santa Rosa Press Democrat since July 2003, Barber covers a diverse range of sports, including the Raiders, 49ers, Warriors, Giants, A's, and motorsports at Sonoma Raceway, while also focusing on local features. Prior to this, Barber contributed to The Sporting News from 1995 to 2005 and freelanced from home between 1995 and 2003. Barber's career began at NFL Publishing, where extensive experience was gained as a Senior Editor from 1987 to 1994. Barber holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from UCLA.
