Tim Dernbach

Tim Dernbach has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Tim currently serves as the President of The Propeller Club Port of San Diego, a position they have held since January 2023. Prior to that, they were a Board Member and ABR Representative for the Port of San Diego Ship Repair Association starting in December 2018. Tim also held the role of Vice President/General Manager at Bay City Marine from July 2018.

Tim has been actively involved in various leadership roles within the Propeller Club of the United States - Port of San Diego since 2012, including serving as a Board Member from December 2012 and as President of the Propeller Club of San Diego from 2015 to 2017.

Before their involvement with the Propeller Club, Tim worked at Propulsion Controls Engineering, starting as an Operations Manager from July 2009 to December 2013, then as Business Development, Contracts and Estimating Manager from January 2014 to June 2017, and finally as Business Manager from July 2017 to June 2018.

Earlier in their career, they held management positions at Pacific Defense Systems from June 2006 to June 2009 and at QED Systems, Inc from April 2004 to June 2006. Tim started their professional career as a Naval Officer in the US Navy, serving from January 1990 to March 2004. Tim's work experience showcases their extensive involvement in the maritime industry and their expertise in various managerial roles.

Tim Dernbach's education history includes a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Finance from Marquette University, which they obtained from 1985 to 1989. Tim also pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Management at San Diego State University from 2014 to 2015. Additionally, they completed Professional Certificates in Project Management and Advanced Contract Management from San Diego State University's College of Extended Studies, which they received in 2015 and 2014-2015 respectively. Prior to their higher education, Tim attended Sturgeon Bay High School.
