Douglas Berquist has a varied work experience in the fields of digital media, content production, and film and television production. Douglas started their career at Nomadic Pictures in 1993, where they served as CEO and Executive Producer until 1996. Douglas then founded their own company, DB Entertainment, where they worked as CEO and Producer for over a decade.
In 2009, Berquist took on the role of Independent Consultant/Contractor, specializing in producing and developing specialized military training programs for the Canadian Military. Douglas also worked as an Executive Producer and Stereographer at the 3D Capture Company from 2009 to 2012, focusing on creating and producing 3D content.
Berquist joined the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in 2011 as a Digital Media Information Technologies Instructor and Curriculum Developer and worked there until 2014. In 2015, they moved to SAIT Polytechnic, where they worked as a Curriculum Developer until 2017.
In addition to their work in education and training, Berquist has also worked at SQRLZ Inc. since 2001, where they initially served as a Content Producer, Digital Media Strategist, and Consultant. Douglas is currently the CEO of SQRLZ Inc. Douglas also founded The Public Place Network in 2012, where they hold the position of Principal CEO.
Douglas Berquist has a diverse education history. In 1973, they attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a focus on Film Studies, completing their studies in 1976. Following that, they attended Sheridan College from 1976 to 1978, where they continued to study Film Studies, although no specific degree was mentioned.
In 2011, Berquist obtained the certification of "Becoming a Master Instructor I" from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). Douglas furthered their education at NAIT in 2012 and 2013, earning a BMI Master Instructor certificate Level I & II in Educational/Instructional Technology.
