Rémysell Salas

Director, Issue Campaigns & Movements Practice at The Raben Group

Rémy Salas is a director in The Raben Group’s Issue Campaigns and Movements practice, where he brings extensive experience in coalition building, strategic planning, public policy, government relations, and community development. Rémy works on a diverse portfolio in education, social justice, nonprofits, tech startups, films, and government.

Prior to joining Raben, Rémy led the CUNY Rising Alliance, a coalition of labor, student, and social justice organizations fighting for a New Deal for CUNY for a free, accessible City University of New York. He elevated the New Deal for CUNY movement and raised public awareness and pressure to support public higher education, which led to the largest year-over-year increase in state and city funding — breaking decades of austerity — setting CUNY on a path to make critical advances to provide better quality and equitable education.

Rémy began his career as a grassroots organizer with the Office of the Prime Minister of Norway, where he advocated for international students’ rights at the University of Oslo. After returning to the United States, he worked at the New York City Council as a policy and legislative analyst, and then in the Strategic Planning and Policy division for the NYC Housing Preservation and Development, which focuses specifically on creating affordable housing. Rémy’s journey continued as a Manhattan director of community affairs for NYC City Hall, where he championed securing more government resources for underserved communities. Subsequently, he was an associate vice president for nonprofits for Kasirer, LLC, where he consulted with clients on strategic plans for discretionary budgets, community outreach, building political relationships, grant budget applications, and legislative analysis. Rémy also led the Biden presidential campaign in Central Florida as a regional voter action director. In addition, he has served as a campaign manager for various city council, state, and congressional campaigns in New York City.

Rémy is a native of New York City and a graduate of SUNY-University at Albany, University of Oslo (Norway), and Harvard University’s Kennedy School.
