Carlos Duarte

Carlos Duarte is an Advisor at The Red Sea Development Company. Prior to their current position, they were a PHD Graduate Student at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology from August 2017 to January 2021. Their research was on the "Implications of irradiance for the Red Sea Tridacna giant clam holobiont". From September 2016 to February 2017, they were a Research Intern at the Research Division ‘Marine Science - Biological and Environmental Science and Engineering’ ; Tarek Ahmed Juffali Research Chair under Prof. Dr. Carlos Duarte. Their research project was on Net calcification of Tridacna maxima in the central Red Sea under different light regimes and its natural abundance corresponding water depths. Before that, they were an Advanced Recreational Trimix Scuba Dive Instructor with IANTD. In January 2015 to January 2016, they were a Master Thesis Student at Alfred Wegener Institute of Polar and Marine Research AWI. Carlos is also a Board Member of Diving Control Board and Scientific Diving Control Board since May 2018.

Dr. Carlos Duarte is a marine scientist who holds a PhD in Marine Sciences from KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology). Carlos also has a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Biological Oceanography from Kiel University, and is certified as a European Scientific Diver and an Advanced Recreational Trimix SCUBA Instructor. Carlos also has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biologie, allgemein, from Kiel University.
