Robert A. Frantz

Director of Procurement and Training at THE RETINA GROUP OF WASHINGTON, P.C

As Director of Procurement and Training for RGW, Rob is responsible for purchasing state-of- the-art medical equipment, along with medical supplies, for all RGW offices. Rob began his career as an Ophthalmic Technician in 1976 and was an integral part of RGW’s formation in 1983. As Chief Ophthalmic Technician for nearly 40 years Rob was involved in the hiring and training of the ophthalmic technicians in the Maryland and Washington, D.C. offices. During that time he maintained the highest level JCAHPO certification of Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT). Rob was the first Clinical Research Coordinator at RGW for the 1990-1995 NIH-sponsored, multicenter Endophthalmitis Vitrectomy Study. Rob managed the RGW Clinical Research Program since its inception, and has continued to co-manage it in recent years. Rob holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from The Pennsylvania State University, College of Microbiology, and earned a two year Graduate Certificate as an Ophthalmic Technologist from the Georgetown University Department of Ophthalmology.
