The River School
Courtney Horne is a qualified Speech Language Pathologist with a Master's degree from The George Washington University. Current experience includes a role as a Speech Language Pathology Extern at The River School since January 2021, following a previous externship at Inova Fairfax Hospital where treatment focused on adult patients in various healthcare settings. Prior to this, Courtney served as a Graduate Student Clinician at The George Washington University, delivering targeted therapy for both adult clients with gender dysphoria and pediatric clients. Additional experience includes serving as a Graduate Ambassador and a full-time English teacher at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic School, where Courtney developed and implemented instructional strategies to enhance student learning. Early career positions include roles at Anthropologie and Cheley Colorado Camps.

The River School
A premier educational program for children 18 months through Grade 3 in Northwest Washington, DC. The River School’s innovative educational model pairs a master’s level educator and a speech language pathologist in each classroom, and focuses on language, literacy and social development. Classroom practice emphasizes experiential and collaborative learning, using thematic curriculum to seamlessly integrate literacy, math, science, drama, music, art, physical education and yoga. The River School’s unique inclusion program is internationally acclaimed. Most students (85% or more) are children with normal hearing; each classroom includes a few children with hearing loss who use cochlear implants or hearing aids. The teaching team supports all of the children in the classroom, with every student greatly benefiting from the rich educational experience.
