David Hirst

David Hirst is an experienced leader in risk and energy management, serving as the Managing Director of Ainsty Risk Consulting Ltd since July 2010, collaborating with consultancies, government bodies, and hedge funds. Hirst holds current positions as Member of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee at The Rodillian Multi Academy Trust and as a Board Member of the Hazards Forum, where efforts focus on risk understanding and reduction strategies. As the Founder and Director of Northern Powerhouse Energy Limited, Hirst contributes to energy initiatives while also serving as an Elected Council Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and engaging in prior roles such as Risk Manager at Drax Power and Head of Strategic and Operational Risk at RWE npower. Hirst's academic background includes a BEng (Hons) in Civil and Structural Engineering from The University of Sheffield and an MBA in Engineering Management from the University of Bradford.
