The Sainsbury Laboratory
Stephen Bornemann currently serves as the Director of Postgraduate Research and Training at The Sainsbury Laboratory, a position held since April 2020. In addition, Stephen holds the title of Honorary Professor in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of East Anglia, a role commenced in June 2018. Previously, Stephen worked at the John Innes Centre from January 1996 to April 2020, where responsibilities included Postgraduate Research Director and Associate Head of Department. Stephen's early career included a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Sussex from September 1992 to September 1995 and a role as a Research Scientist at Tate & Lyle Research and Technology between March 1987 and March 1989. Academically, Stephen earned a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Warwick (1989-1992), a Master of Science in Applied Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from UCL (1986-1987), and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from King's College London (1983-1986).
