David Lomelí

Chief Artistic Officer at Santa Fe Opera

David Lomelí is the current Chief Artistic Officer at THE SANTA FE OPERA. Prior to this, they held the position of Director of Artistic Administration at The Dallas Opera from July 2014 to April 2021. In this role, they were responsible for artistic administration, contract management, and serving as an artist liaison. David also worked on the ICERTIS/TDO Project for Contract Management via Microsoft Cloud.

Before their time at The Dallas Opera, Lomelí was with OPERA America from 2011 to 2014. During their tenure there, they worked as a program manager for the Institute of Women Conductors and co-manager for the The Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition. David also did research on available rental productions and assisted with artistic planning meetings.

Lomelí began their career in the opera world at Bayerische Staatsoper, where they worked from 2006 to 2011. While there, they did casting research and helped schedule and monitor auditions. David also partnered with the Artistic Administrator, General Director & CEO, and CFO to design and implement cost-effective, automated contract signing, contract management, and audition reporting tools.

David Lomelí has a Master's degree in Marketing/Marketing Management, General from Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya, a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, and certifications from Stanford University in Advanced Project Management and OPERA America in Leadership Intensive and Career Advance.

David Lomelí works with Harry Bicket - Music Director, Mike VanAartsen - Director of Safety, Wellness & Occupational Health, and Heather Kemp - Chief Financial Officer. Some direct reports include Adam Franklin - Artistic Administrator, Angela Finnes - Artistic Coordinator. David Lomelí reports to Robert K. Meya, General Director.
